PARENT INFORMATION

Family privacy notice

This notice covers Cyber Ed, a free learning app with Math, Spelling and Typing, and its parent dashboard, operated by Kerman Technologies LLC.

Parent accounts and children’s profiles

A parent creates the account and manages the children’s profiles. We use the parent’s email for sign-in, verification, account recovery, and service messages. Password authentication is handled by Google Firebase. Use a nickname for each child; Cyber Ed does not need a child’s email, full name, address, or date of birth.

What we save and why

When signed in, we store family and child identifiers, nicknames, parent controls, Math, Spelling and Typing progress, practice results and timestamps so families can resume across devices and review practice. Browser storage also keeps local copies of progress and cached saves, and a copy of the app’s own game files (pictures, sounds, 3D models and code, never personal information) so Cyber Ed opens quickly and keeps working without internet.

When a parent signs in, that device also keeps the children’s nicknames and chosen avatars, and whether the parent account has been confirmed, so a child can open Cyber Ed and keep playing without internet. This copy stays on the device and is never sent to us; it is removed when the parent signs out, when a child’s profile is deleted, or when the parent account is deleted. Progress made offline is sent to your account when the device is back online.

Practice history records when each practice session happened, how long the child practiced, its subject, which facts, spelling words or typing keys were practiced, and how many answers were correct, missed or needed a hint; it does not include what the child typed. It is kept for one year after the session and then deleted automatically, usually within a few days. In the parent dashboard you can choose 90 days, one year, two years, or until you delete it. Profiles, saved progress and parent settings stay until you delete the child’s profile or the parent account.

When something goes wrong in the game, such as a crash or a part that fails to load, the app sends us a short technical error report: what went wrong and where in our code, the app version and subject, and general device facts (browser and operating system type, approximate memory, graphics chip, whether it has a touch screen, and a rough screen size). Error reports contain no personal information: no names, account or child identifiers, typed answers or saved progress. We use them only to find and fix problems.

To learn how long the game takes to start on real devices, such as school Chromebooks, the app sends us a short timing report each time it opens: how many seconds the start screen and the station took to load, how much it downloaded, whether the game was closed before it finished loading, the app version and subject, and general device facts (operating system type, approximate memory, number of processor cores, the kind of graphics chip, the connection type, and whether it has a touch screen). Timing reports contain no personal information: no names, account or child identifiers, saved progress or web addresses. They use no cookies and no identifier that could recognize the device; the app keeps only a daily count on the device so that it sends no more than a few reports a day. We use them only to make the game start faster.

Error and timing reports are kept in our Google Cloud logs for 30 days and then deleted automatically. Like any website, our server sees the device’s internet (IP) address when a report arrives; we use it only for a moment, to limit how many reports one network can send, and we don’t store it with the report or in our logs. We don’t use any third-party analytics or error-tracking service.

Hosting and service providers may process IP addresses, device information and operational logs to deliver and protect the service. For every other call a device makes to our servers, Google’s request logs record the internet (IP) address and browser type; we use them for security and to fix problems, and they are deleted automatically after 30 days.

Free, with no payments

Cyber Ed is free. It does not sell plans or take payments, and we do not ask for card or other payment details, so no payment service receives information about your family. One exception: when a parent deletes the account, we ask RevenueCat (the subscription service the original CyberSpeller used) to erase any billing record held under the account’s random identifier. RevenueCat receives that identifier, not your email or your children’s information.

Spoken words

Spelling plays natural-voice recordings of its words and example sentences. Most are made ahead of time and load from our host. When a word has no recording yet, for example a word on a custom list, and a parent is signed in, the app sends the word and its example sentence to our Google Cloud function, which asks Google Cloud Text-to-Speech for one recording and keeps it in a shared public audio cache so it can be reused. Google Cloud Text-to-Speech receives only that word and sentence: no name, account, answer or learning history. Please keep personal information, such as a child’s full name, out of custom words and sentences. To limit use, the function counts recordings per network and per account each day, each stored only as a one-way hash, never the address or account itself.

If no recording can be made, the app uses the device’s own text-to-speech voice, which also reads character help aloud. Some browser or operating-system voices use online services, so that text may be processed by the voice’s provider under its own terms. The voice samples in settings stream fixed clips from Google Cloud’s documentation website. Cyber Ed does not record your microphone.

Service providers

Google Firebase and Google Cloud provide sign-in, hosting, cloud storage and spoken-word recordings. These providers process information needed to provide their services. We do not sell children’s information or use it for behavioral advertising. No public child profiles or child-to-child messaging are offered.

If you email us or send a setting request from the parent dashboard, we receive your email address and what you write, and use them to answer you.

Account confirmation

When you confirm permission for child cloud profiles, we record the notice version, what it covers, the confirmation method and dates, and a hash of your parent email. Confirmation links expire after one hour. Pending confirmation requests and email delivery records are removed after seven days; sent message contents are removed after the mail service accepts them. A current permission record remains until you withdraw permission or delete the account.

Parent choices and deletion

Unlock parent settings to review progress, change controls or delete a child’s profile. Deleting a profile removes that child’s cloud data in Math, Spelling and Typing; it does not remove original CyberSpeller data.

Deleting the parent account removes all its child profiles, cloud saves and original CyberSpeller cloud data, and disables sign-in. Initial cleanup starts promptly; a final pass runs after existing sign-in tokens expire, normally after about an hour. Failed cleanup retries automatically. Offline devices and downloaded copies cannot be erased remotely; remove those copies on their devices.

If an original CyberSpeller subscription bought through an app store is still active, it must end before automatic account deletion can proceed; contact us for help. We retain a minimal deleted-account identifier to prevent old requests from recreating data.

Retention and questions

Practice history is kept for one year unless you choose otherwise, as described above. Error and timing reports and request logs are kept for 30 days. Profiles, saved progress and parent settings remain until you delete them. Database backups are kept for seven days, so deleted records can remain in a backup for up to a week. Parents can request a copy of their children’s records, correction, deletion or an end to further collection by contacting us. Do not email passwords.
